The Cryan Times

Where Thought Meets Reflection

The Cryan Times began from a shared curiosity between two students, Cristian Kim and Ryan Cheong, who believed that the questions we ask often reveal more than the answers we find. The name Cryan comes from the blend of their names, symbolizing both collaboration and curiosity.

It started as a simple idea during a conversation about how people think, feel, and connect with one another. Both founders, students at Dulwich College Seoul, shared a deep fascination with philosophy and psychology and often discussed the nature of self-awareness, emotion, and meaning. From those late conversations came a desire to create a space where questions could live, breathe, and inspire reflection.

At its heart, The Cryan Times is not a newspaper but a dialogue. Each article seeks to understand the mind from within, to explore the subtle details of life that often go unnoticed, and to invite readers to reflect with sincerity.

Through topics that range from philosophical psychology to daily introspection, the publication aims to connect ideas with emotion, science with story, and curiosity with community.

Cristian Kim [Editor in Chief, Main Author]

Cristian Kim is a student at Dulwich College Seoul and the founding Editor-in-Chief of The Cryan Times, a publication dedicated to exploring questions that connect philosophy, psychology, and the human experience.

Driven by a deep curiosity about how people think, feel, and find meaning, Cristian approaches writing not simply as a way to express ideas, but as a way to understand them. His work often examines the boundary between thought and emotion — how introspection can both isolate and heal, and how self-awareness can shape the way we live and connect with others.

Ryan Cheong [Managing Editor]

Ryan Lee is the Co-Founder and Writer of The Cryan Times, where he explores questions at the intersection of mind, meaning, and modern life. As both a thinker and storyteller, Ryan approaches writing as a dialogue between observation and reflection — between how we experience the world and how we understand it.

A student with a growing passion for psychology, philosophy, and literature, Ryan believes that curiosity is not simply about seeking answers but about learning to sit with uncertainty. His essays often examine the subtleties of thought and emotion, inviting readers to see ordinary experiences through a more introspective lens.
